This website is no longer active and is out of date. Please visit the following website: https://bluesprogram.org/ for information on the Blues Program adolescent depression prevention intervention. Thank you!
Given the high prevalence of adolescent depression, it is important to develop brief and effective prevention programs. We developed a 6-session cognitive-behavioral prevention group for adolescents with elevated depressive symptoms.
This program has been found to significantly reduce depressive symptoms compared to adolescents who receive an educational brochure and more importantly appears to reduce the rates of future major depressive disorder onset by 40% or more. This website contains the intervention manuals and student handouts that were used in both efficacy and effectiveness trials, published papers on the intervention, the screening measure and forms to assess intervention adherence and therapist competence that can be used by supervisors or by the group leaders for self-evaluation. Answers to some common questions and contact information for the program developers are provided. |
